SORTs considers sustainability report as "cause." The process to come up with "cause" requires at least 5 jajor steps beginning from scoping of the report as well as setting up the boundary of the organizations. After that, materiality assessment under stakeholder's mind has to be done in order to evaluate which aspects are the issues that organizations should put focus on.

Under each issue (aspect), topic identification has to be conducted to ensure that the organization realizes how relevant it is and what management approach would be done to tackle them. Data collection process is among the most time consuming, yet letting the organization learn its own performance under each aspect. Summing everything up as a report that has to be reviewed and approved by top-level management will result in a sustainability report that follows GRI principles and best responds to stakeholders' demands effectively.

With such "cause", organization will learn, with solid evidence, what it needs to continue improving in order to sustain itself.
